What is the State DNC Service?
The State DNC (Do Not Call) service, offered within Pure CallerID’s Compliance Services, checks phone numbers against state-specific Do Not Call lists. Many states maintain their own registries in addition to the Federal list, often with stricter rules or additional restrictions, making this service essential for comprehensive compliance.
How Does It Work?
The service processes numbers by cross-referencing them with individual state DNC databases, which vary in scope and requirements. Pure CallerID has developed relationships with each of the states maintaining their own lists, independent from the federal DNC registry, currently 11 states as of this publication. When a number is submitted, via real-time API or batch upload, it’s checked against all relevant state lists. If a number appears on any state registry, it’s flagged for exclusion from telemarketing outreach, unless an exemption applies. The system accounts for state-specific nuances, such as holiday call bans or time-of-day restrictions.
Role in Communication Workflows
State DNC compliance is a key component of a multi-layered regulatory strategy. This service ensures that outreach efforts respect state-level prohibitions, which can override federal rules in some cases. By filtering out numbers on state lists, it helps organizations avoid penalties and maintain smooth operations across jurisdictions. It’s particularly valuable for businesses operating in multiple states with diverse compliance landscapes.
